okay.
yesterday was spent visiting relatives. fun. got a couple more presents too. sweet.
came home and john chia and steve invited me to dinner at fridays. so i went. that was good. it started to snow around this time. slushy, but slippery. so afterwards we went the theater to watch the ringer. jt came by and we all went and saw the movie. then we headed back to johns and chias house. it was still snowing. still slippery. put that and four guys with cars together and you have what the trip to the house was like. very fun. we sat around, watched tv, cause more ruckus, kyle stopped by a little later, caused even more ruckus, good times.
woke up today, came home, and here i am.

later this afternoon we're all going paintball, then this evening, well, it is new years eve. take a guess what will happen...

yesterday was exhausting. me steve and kyle went up to the army surplus store in elgin cause steve needed a pin of somesort. from there we drove to the fox valley mall. chilled there for an hour. then came back to my house, watched War of the Worlds. after that we went to the holmstad to give danielle her hoodies. stayed and talked to my grandparents and the staff. left and came back to my house again. later me and steve went to johns. chillaxed with the crew. then at three in the morning finally went to bed. it was sweet.

today im going to see relatives. get more presents. and stuff. later i might hang out with the 69 customs crew. but we will see...

so now im hungry and its time to raid the fridge.

leave has started. it has been good.

yesterday was spent driving. a lot of driving. very far. and for very long. on the way up, near the illinois boarder, we were on an offramp and josh's blazer lost control. yes it was rainy out, and cold, so the bridge portion of the offramp was frozen. anyway it fishtailed, then the driver front bumper smashed into the conrete wall. pushed the bumper up into the wheel, wedging it there. then the truck spun around and slid into the wall again, on the passenger rear bumper. it ran up onto the ledge and we slid like that for about 50 feet before we stopped sliding. when it was over we had gone about 150 feet altogether. not to mention we were now facing the opposite way. we pulled off to the shoulder, later some highway crash response trucks came by and directed traffic around us. even later the state police came by and filled out an accident report. and still later a tow truck came. thankfully the blazer was still drivable, although cosmetically it was screwed. the tow truck hooked a couple chains on the bumper that was wedged in the wheel, pulled it out, and we were on our way. got home about midnight.
it was pretty cool. slow motion the whole time of the accident. sparks and car pieces flying everywhere.

i was hungry so me and steve and kyle wen to steak and shake. jt came by a little later. went home afterwards and off to bed.

today i got up, steve and john came over for breakfast. laura and kelly came by in the afternoon. so did marissa. hung out, crazy stuff. they left, me ans steve visited his mother. we left, went to johns place, hung out with the crew. crazy wild stuff there too.

and now im home and tired as hell. awesome day.

Christmas came and went.
duty came and went.

it wasnt too bad. i had two watches though, m-14 rover, 8am to 12pm, and 10pm to 3am that sucked....otherwise it was a quiet duty day.
they had a dinner feast on the ship. that was good. lots of food, guests came, some of the crew showed up. pretty cool.

no work today. awesome. tomarrow i come in for work, check in, listen to people bullshit, then hopfully shortly after i will be released for leave!
then me and my buddy josh will hop into his blazer, and drive through that base gate, and off we go to Illinois!

a week of fun and thrills and craziness and destruction and mischeif lie ahead of me...and it starts in less than two days....

yesterday i had duty. it was boring. had a pier gaurd watch, 8am-12pm. again. it was chilly and boring.
now something that sucks.
i was in my workspace, and had just gotten done playing a game on the computer. i get up, start walking towards the door, when suddenly my right foot got caught on a wire on the floor. i fall forward, and my right knee hits the edge of a peice of metal on the wall. i am shot with pain in my leg, and its so intense i fall to the ground and am not able to stand up for at least a minute. when the pain lessens a bit, i walk down to the bathroom to see if its bleeding. i roll my pant leg up, and sure enough theres blood. lots of blood. i think shit, i hope i dont need stiches. it looked deep. so i pad up the blood and hobble down to medical. i show the doc my cut, and he directs me to the medical room. he shoots me up with novicane; 5 times near the wound, and proceeds to clean the area. after that he examines the cut and says thankfully i will not need stiches. then he puts some ointment on the wound and wraps it up, goes back to his office, asks me a bunch of questions, fills out paperwork, and gives me some motren pills and ointment and cleansing clothes, and gives me instructions on what i should do while the cut heals.

so here i am hobbling around with a knee that hurts. its awesome.

but theres 5 more days until i am home. hell freakin yes.

went and picked up supplies for the room yesterday. plates, beverages, food, and whatnot. much needed things.

today i went Christmas shopping. got stuff for all the family. nothing fancy really, but something none-the-less. wrapped them and labeled them. ready for opening.

found out that hyperboards.com had a system failure, so the 69 Customs forum was undeliberetly deleated. today i rebuilt it and customized it to the best i could. they're using an older versoin of the program until things are fixed, so its very primitive. but i got it to look basically like the original. still going strong.

otherwise nothing. got out of work at lunch today. since theres only six of us OS's here during this leave period, there isnt too much for us to do; easy day.

7 more days until i am home. then the festivities really begin...

good times. where to start.

saturday i had duty. had two watches. pier gate watch from 8am to 12pm, then a barracks watch from 4am to 8am. fun. and boring. otherwise easy day.

sunday i didnt do much but catch all the sleep i missed on saturday. later in the evening however, i went and saw King Kong at the movie theater. freakin awesome movie, one of the best ive seen this year. HIGHLY recommend it.

so today, monday, was another work day. also today the first leave period started; which i didnt take, im taking the second leave period. again also today was yet another boring saftey standdown. and an awards ceramony. and captains call. and finally at 3:30 we get released. yay.

found a couple things out today: first; our chief has the first leave period, so i dont have to deal with him for a week. second; i have duty on Christmas. ...awesome!......ya sure....

anywho, cant wait until the 27th when i can go on leave and chill with friends and family in good old Batavia. way better than staying here on base. and theres snow at home. thats a big plus, because theres -16 inches here at Norfolk.

wednesday me and a couple buds went to the movies and saw Chronicles of Narnia. wow. very awesome movie. recomend it highly.

also finally brought ICP's Frogotten Freshness 4. dang. highly recomend it too.

other than that, yesterday i did nothing but sleep. i was tired as hell, dont know why though. just was.
today is a deglam day; meaning no work at all. sweet. dont know what im gunna do, but awesome none the less.

chief had a conference to attend, so we got off around 10:00 this morning. kickin.

yesterday the ship had a blood drive, and anyone who donated blood got liberty for the day. i didnt donate however...but as far as everyone is conserned, i did. got off the ship at 1130. sweet.

so far this week is looking good. tomarrow we are going to take a divional tour of a new LPD ship; LPD-17 USS San Antonio. they came up to Norfolk, to show off basically, so were going to take a tour of it. heard its suppossed to be pretty high tech; almost half the crew of older LPD's, yet bigger. alot of computer contoled things. that should be cool.
friday is a deglam day. no work.

and duty on saturday. oh boy.

then one more week till my leave! kick ass.

so i called the internet rep saturday, he came by and got me all setup for ultimate access.
but i had to wait until 6pm today to actually get online.

so after much waiting and sleepless nights the time came. i booted the computer up, powered on the modem.......and it didnt connect.

okay, i thought, a little glitch.

i troubleshooted.....and troubleshooted.........and troubleshat some more.

by now i was getting irritated.....and you wouldnt like me when im irritated....

after cursing and threatening and probably scaring the piss out of everyone on the whole floor, i called the tech support line.

finally getting through all the automated commands and switching through different operators i got to the one person i set out to contact. the high speed interent techie. i give my shpeel. he pauses. asks for...what? who?? yes; i can not understand him with his...accent.
nonetheless, i push through the slurred words and foul sounding pronunciation, and finally a half hour after repeating my name, my problem, and freakin entire life practically there was light once again...

I WAS CONNECTED!!

i rejoiced! i yelled and screamed! i rocked out with my cock out!! well not that part, but i was filled with endless joy.

after a few days on the mighty atlantic ocean i am back in port. man it feels good.
what did we do; trained. stood watches. trained some more.
thats about the extent of it.

no more going out to sea again until January.
so that means about three weeks until i am home once again. cant wait!

called the internet guy today. said he would be over tomarrow afternoon. then ill finally have internet in the room, and wont have to walk many blocks in the cold and wait in lines for a computer. nice.

went to look for a car today too. no luck. as i figured.

and now im hungry. off to eat and watch tv.

but lets start from the beginning...

friday was a day off. our messdecks are getting deep cleaned, so the captain thought we should have it off. niiice.
anyway, ended up going to my buddy Lee's apartment that night. brought out the drinks and we relaxed and watched movies all night, into the morning, and finally quit drinking around noon saturday. slept afterwards. then continued our binge that night. a few buddys of his came over and we played beer pong. i sucked. but i was already pretty gone to begin with so i had an excuss. ha.
after the guests left, me and Lee continued our festival, watching some more movies and played Madden 2006. we cut it short early; bout 3am sunday, and slept till 1pm today. got up and went to a sports bar and watched the steelers game. steelers lost. ha. bears won vs. green bay. yesss. then i came back to base and here i am chillin.

and that was my weekend. great stuff.

tomarrow we sail out for the week. then two weeks from now christmas leave starts, and in three weeks i will once again be home to party. awesome.

duty today. yay. had some bullshit m14 watch. 4pm-8pm. boring.

my friend Brandon got his car back today. he lent it out about a month ago to his then girlfreind. she ended up not returning it, so he declared it stolen. it was crazy. the police were trying to catch her but they always seemed to be one step behind. she turned out to be a con artist of a sort; had a list of warrents in many states, the whole shebang. brandon's dad worked for the fbi so he started his own investigation and found out all the in depth info on her, and helped the local police out. so finally after a month someone set her up; told her to meet them at a certain place, then turned around and tipped off the police were they caught her in Suffolk, VA at 8:00 this morning. the police wanted brandon to come out there and identify her, so he did, and later him and a few police officers stopped by her house where he found his car. a couple dents and scratches, but it was still intact. he has court coming up sometime soon to convict her, but no worrys. theres tons of evidence to support his side, and she has nothing.
its kindda funny really, how she thought shed get away with all this.

but time eventually catches up to you.

anywho, i did nothing today. and now im going to bed. bordem can wear you out...

damn. going back in time here....
so saturday was busy. not really but okay. woke up, had breakfast at my place, ashley came by and brought us a box of doughnuts. it was good. then me and steve went to go look for a car for me; unsuccessful however. so we went back to my house and chilled there. perry came by a little afterwards. we talked, joked, beat eachother up and whatnot. kyle came home during his break and said laura and kelly wanted to stop by. so he went and picked them up and brought them back and we all hung around outside, causing ruckus as usual. laura was trying on steves gear. we were all being loud as hell and running around in the street and probably freaking out all the passing drivers. good times. dinner came around and we all had dinner at my place. afterwards we hung around some more, i showed everyone the pictures from overseas and stuff, then laura and kelly went home, and me, steve, and perry went to johns place. we all went to fridays. went back to his place and chilled there. slept there. woke up there. said my good byes. headed home and went to mass with the fam. went out to apple villa. then we all drove to the airport. said my good byes to the family. checked in. got on my plane. flew. landed in norfolk. brandan picked me up. went to hooters. ate. drove back to base. now im here typing. after this im going to bed.

and thats it. it was great to come home for a couple days i needed it. now i have to wait a month till my next visit.....

wooooooooo okay so here i am at home, and boy so far im glad i came.

last night myself, my brother kyle, steve, and his friend perry went to johns place for some....um....koolaid. we covertly got them down to the basement and busted them open and were mixin' and swiggin'. we were doing good. then the cd player some how found its way down to the basement, and for some odd reason music started playing. now were mixin' and swiggin' and singin' and dancin'. this goes for a few hours, it gets more rambucious...

and now the cool part.

in the wee hours of the morning, a someone (i wont mention a name for securities sake) came down and sat us on the couch and yelled at us; indirectly kicked us out; for the...koolaid...and our loudness and whatnot. but first we had to clean our messes up and tidy up the house. we did. then we packed all our stuff and went back to my house and crashed. slept hard..

all in all, it was worth it, each of us had a freakin badass time, and although it didnt turn out quite like we may have hoped, twas still fun.
i wonder what tonight holds for us.

so ya, i didnt get a car before this long weekend like i had hoped, so now i cant drive home like i had hoped. BUT suppossedly someone is on their way down to pick me up...just waiting for the call that says they have arrived. we'll see

friday i slept most the day. one of my buddies got the computer game Rainbow Six 3...played that after my nap....till 5 am...holy shit that game is tight.

saturday i slept most the day, again. played Rainbow Six 3 afterwards, again. bought some cd's too.

today i didnt sleep most the day. did play the game for an hour or so. and now im here and looking at cars online...hopefully i can find one before thursday so i can drive home for the holiday weekend...Steve is up on leave; want to hang out with him before he leaves for his deployment next year.

last night me and some friends went to Golden Corral; it was their annual "free food for all veterans and active duty military" night. it was freakin awesome! a drink with unlimited refills and full dinner buffet; ALL FREE!
it was nice to see $0.00 on my reciept. scrumpcious food not to mention.

very well spent was the hour and a half wait to be seated. line was out the door and halfway down the parking lot!
but how could you NOT pass up free food?

radar navigation school. basically a refresher that covers all the stations we man up for sea and anchor. its retarded and pointless, but for some odd reason all us OS's have to attend it.

its a two day thing, but still, the fact that i have to travel out to Dam Neck to the OS "A" school for this ticks me off. its not exactly a speedy trip, and i dread going on the base i just came from and hated not too long ago.

BUT it beats painting and cleaning the ship.
so i guess its not as bad as it sounds.

and the class is easy. so i presume i have no room to complain.

but i will anyway because i can. and i dont want to erase all this and start over.

yesterday was my best friend Steve's birthday. he is 20. ive known him for 9. too bad he had to spend it at Ft Drum...

i was (and still am) very bored. so i updated my Myspace stuff. after that i went to Google.com and searched up official band websites. after looking through those i searched up random shit. after a few minutes of that i lost interest and decided to update here.

now i am left with a dilema. what to do next?

fianlly back from Florida. it was boring. as expected.

the trip back was long. and annoying. and boring.

the last day, though was intersting. here goes:
el capitain wanted to do a man overboard drill. but instead of telling us it was a drill, he played it off like it was the real thing. and when the real thing happens, CIC (were i work) gets all chaotic; radio transmissions go out, plotting on charts and calculations go on...crazy. so we're doing all that and as we are turning the ship around to retrieve the "man" in the water, one of the water feeds for one of the two boilers in the engine room stopped sucking in water. so the boiler lost its fire and stopped providing juice for the generator, and the entire ship had a power loss for a few seconds. well that fucked everything up, and since CIC is 99% electronics (very important electronics mind you) we lost all radars, communications, indentificators; EVERYTHING was down.

ha holy shit it was funny as hell!!

so now its even more chaos as we try to get everything back up and running, while maintaining the man overboard proceedures. man it was crazy.

anywho after a few minutes we got our radars going and comms up and whatnot and all was eventually calm. the captain later came over the loudspeaker and indirecty appoligized for the causulty.

boy that was a thrill. pretty cool with all the yelling and running around and me just sitting there laughing inside.


but ya other than that, tomarrow is a day off for everyone else but me. why?

today was long.

woke up this morning for duty section turnover. didnt plan on doing much of anything. an announcment was made there were three extra tickets for the Jaguars vs. Texans football game.

i thought, eh what the hell. so i bout one. cheap; only $8.

got on the bus, spent too long of a ride on it, and finally clawed my way through the crowd and clammered up the stairs to my seat. a few buddies of mine came along so i sat with them.
twas pretty cool; my first football game. except it was hotter than all hell, and i only had $2 and the card swipper things at all the concession stands werent working, so i was thirsty as all hell, and there were those really annoying fans behind me screaming in my ears like all hell; otherwise it was cool. Jaguars won 21 to 14.

after the game and after we got back on base me and the guys that came with went bowling. i bombed horribly. played some arcade games too. i was pretty good at that.

we had to be back on the ship by 10pm, and by then it was almost that time. we walked back, came aboard, and now im here typing falling asleep...

we head back to Norfolk tomarrow afternoon. good.

i ended up going out in town with Beach last night. drove around. stopped by the mall and walked around in there. bought an ICP hat. then we left and drove some more. we went out to where all the big ass beach houses and such where. holy shit they were huge! insane.

later we came back to base and i went to bed. woke up today to a duty day. had the 4pm - 8pm m-14 roving watch. boring as usual.

went to Mcdonalds and got a huge sack of food. i was starving. it was good.

still no plans for tomarrow. guess ill just play it by ear like i normally do.

Boat Control update: finished the last problem. did excellent on it. passed the entire course with a 96.3%. not too bad for my first time there. now monday its back to work on the ship...

Disater Relief update: still the same. read an article in the paper the other day; it said us; the Nashville, the Wasp, and the Trenton went down to Florida for disaster relief. said we left last saturday. we all laughed. here we are, all of us, sitting here on standby in port, yet the paper says differently. goes to show how our news media keeps up on their stories.

last night me and a few buds went to see Saw 2.
holy shit.
it was freakin awesome! it was just as good as the first one. very well written and directed. and it had that twisted ending like the first Saw.
i highly, highly recommend watching it.
very bloddy too, i liked that.

Boat Control update: tomarrow is the last day. we got through two problems today, the hardest ones, and passed both of them. the instructer said he was impressed, most ships fail one of the two. i guess we're gods now.

Disaster Relief update: moved to a 96-hour standby. chance of us going is even slimmer; not that it matters because we are going down to Jacksonville again for a week starting Nov. 2. not looking forward to it.

update on relief deployment: it has been downgraded to 48-hour standby.

basically means when and if the word is sent for us to go down to Florida, we have 48 hours to get ready and set sail.
so thats what we are doing, standing-by. and working our asses off in the mean time.
it looks like the whole thing might be called of though. very big chance it might.

tomarrow i start school; Boat Control school. that deals with all the AAV's, LCAC's, LCU's, and their operations; beach landings, attacks, all that, and our part in the whole thing. which is pretty much everything, we run the show. so im going to school for the next week to learn how to do all that. oh boy more fun training.

so this hurricane near Florida; wilma i believe, might interfere with this weekend.

i guess some poeple up high on the political ladder didnt like the "fact" that the Navy isnt doing enough in terms of providing help for natural disaster relief.
sooooo that means if this hurricane doesnt dwindle down, and it hits Florida with force, WE, the mighty Nashville, get to make an emergency deplyment to Florida to help with the releif.

its not official yet; this Friday is the set day to deploy.

oh boy. that means rough seas, lots of choas onboard, disgruntled sailors, and more fun problems to come up before and after this whle ordeal.

i was bored. so i turned on the tele. flipping through channels when i came acroos the Power Rangers.

amused, i started watching it. and damn is it way different from how i remember the show as a youngin. new looks, new characters, new toys; all of it.
boy i tell you kids these days are lucky they have all these bad ass shows to watch at their pleasure. some shows from my young era will never get old theyre classics, but TV shows these days seem much more cooler.

another cool thing today: i got to skip out on the PRT. now i have three extra days to get my pushups, situps, and running into top shape before the test.
am i going to use that time to train?

but im not worried about it anyway.

well, Fall is finally coming.

today was the first day it was COLD since ive been back from our cruise.

Fall is the best season; my favorite anyway.
not too cold, but not hot.
everything starting to die off and hibernate for the winter.
the colors of leaves on the trees
the burning of leaves from the trees.
jackets and hoodies are in style.

but what makes it the best is Thankgiving and of course, HALLOWEEN. (best holiday undoubtedly)

last day of the big four day off was...long

woke up around noon. didnt do much from then on.

mid evening came and a couple buds called up and asked if i wanted to join them.
they were goin to some resturant. a very good one they said.
Cheddars is what it is called.

i agreed.

the guy i rode with didnt know the way so we followed.

wow.

what should have taken about an hours dive ended up being about five hours before we got there

freakin got lost half way there. one of them had to use the restroom, and we got turned around and did circles.
crazy stuff.
ended up in the ghettos and shit.

but we finally found it and ate and damn was it good.

we took the correct way back.



so that how my monday was spent.

now its "work" time.....which is more like "catch up on sleep" time for me....




BUT theres no PT today so im happy. i hate forced physical activities...

last day of the big four day weekend.

all in all it wasnt too bad.
had duty Thursday, so i had to be up bright and early Friday for turnover. wasnt happy aboot that.

otherwise the rest of the days were spent sleeping in, eating, chillin in my room; me and a few buddies went and terrorized the local mall one day, saw the movie Serenity, that was pretty good. me and a bud ordered a freakin huge ass pizza the other day; called a Cal'zilla, its 18" x 26". freakin lasted almost two whole days! damn good too.
and ya thats aboot it. nothing real exciting. relaxing mainly.

needed it too.

i was hoping to go home again for this weekend; my best friend Steve is up on leave from the Army and was in town. couldnt make it though.
dammit.

starting to rebuild my DVD and CD collection; the airlines cant do anything about what happened.
fuck 'em.

rumors from other ships he has been on is that he is an awesome captian. likes liberty a lot.

but we have a new and better captain so its all good now.

i finally got my bags from the airport on tuesday. tuesday. two days after i got back to base.
wow.
so as i am unpacking, i realize my DVD case is missing.
well shit.
i know i packed it too.
i call my house in hopes i acidently left them there. i get my brother to look in my room.
not there.
i ask to put mum on the phone. she gets on and i tell her the situation. she says she will look for it, but if she doesnt call me back in half and hour she didnt find it.
half hour goes by.
no call.

i call my house back, and my mum says no luck.
dammit.
i start to wonder if my CD case was tampered with as well. so i open up my the case, and as im going through i find out i have a bunch of cd's missing as well.
son of a bitch.
someone stole all my DVD's (about 50 in total) and about 25 CD's.

now im furious.

so i call the baggage claim place and tell them what happened. they give me another number to call, so i call that number. they hear what i have to say, and respond by saying that unfortuetly they are not liable for loss or damage to anything electronic. but the guy said he would call the aiports and have them investigate, and to get back to him in three to four days.

unbelievable.

NOT LIABLE????? what the hell?? what kind of bagagge claim isnt liable for certain things in a persons bagagge?? so now i am at loss of about $1400 worth of DVD's and CD's????
$1400 gone in a snap. and theres nothing anyone can do..?

im in the freakin military!!! theres no way that no one can do anything about it!

so i am still angry as hell, and in disbelief that some jerk-off-prick-jackass would do that.

MONDAY.

so yesterday was the final day of my leave.
it was assome.
the 69 Customs crew came by and we all chilled at my place.

so my flight was schedualed for 6:00pm. i git there and check in and all and git to the gate, come to find out it has been delayed like two hours.
freakin a.
so i wait, it gits delayed another hour.
wtf.
then at like 9:00pm i am told the flight has been cancelled. weather problems.

so im sent to another flight to Norfolk, but when i get there im told its booked. so i am put on stand-by. in the process the plane is switched to a different gate. so i run to the new gate, and im still on stand-by
dammit im pissed now.

so to make this short, i finally am able to get on at the last second (after another hour-and-half delay). when i arrive at Norfolk, (at 2:30am) i find out my bags never left with me theyre still at O'hare. so i file a claim (which took two hours or so) and now i am waiting for the airport to call me so i can pick up my bags.

and now i am freakin tired; no sleep at all, and frustrated and not in a good mood overall...

so the past few days have been busy.

most of it was spent with friends just hangin out.

last night MB, Julio, Noe and me went to Ju Rin. freakin assome japanese resturant. it was cool because we got one of the tables where the cook prepares everything in front of you. our cook did some neato tricks while making the meals it was fun. and good. and expensive...

so afterwards we drove to R & S Liqures and got some drinks. then we went back to Julio and Noe's place and chilled and watched the Sox game and drank beers for a few hours. at one point Kyle and his two lady friends stopped by and chilled with us. it was fun, i got a little tipsy and MB was somewhat drunk twas assome we got pics and all.

so after that i left and went to chill with Gilbert and the crew at his place. but i was tired as shit so i didnt stay long and ended up goin home to bed.

then this morning Molly and me went out to breakfast and hung out for an hour or so afterwards. that was nice, weve been friends since we were both five years old.
later my dad and sis and steven and me went up to visit aunts and uncles and cousins that was fun too. showed pictures and shared stories.

came back, hung out with Gilbert and a couple other friends and now im home.

and going to bed....


tomarrow is the final day of reckoning....then its off to Norfolk again to continue my surge to world domination.

ate dinner with John's parents (and Joe and John himself were there) on tuesday. that was nice. they're like a second family to me....good people.

went to the building trades 2 house today. talked with Mr. McCloud who (still) teaches the class that was cool. the house is lookin awesome coming together very nicely.


so other than that i dont have much of anything planned...except to continue my mischeif...

well another couple days has come and been destroyed.

lets see; events that took place:
visited the Haunted House and the crew...that was pretty cool. most of the same people are still there...but regaurdless the house itself isnt looking to good. they moved from the Campana warehouse to some store up for lease in St. Charles; a much smaller place....but all the rooms need to be finished, theres a couple that havent even been started. the electrical needs to be ran; a ton of minor projects and final touchups....
and opening night is only a week away.
hope they all pull through...

other than that, ive just been hanging out with friends and visiting people.

and of course causing mischief.....mwahaha....

WELL.

the day of reckoning has come and gone.
i am finally home on leave!

actually i came in yesterday sround 830pm. would have been home later that night if we didnt get lost trying to find our way back to Batavia.

wanted to surprise the family then.
didnt happen. instead i stayed at my three friends house they are renting.

so this morning i was going to surprise the fam. mum and li and k werent home, but i managed to shock the rest of the family. they ere very happy to see me.

so my dad and i came up with the plan to surprise my mum when she got home. so i hide in the storeroom in the basement, and dad asked her to get something. then when she opened the door and turned the light on i jumped out and scared here.
haha she just stood there wide eyed and mouth dropped haha it was pricless!

later i greeted kyle and liann, and most of the rest of my friends.

MB and Julio and Noe and i all went out to the White Sox game today; after all the surprising. that was pretty cool. Sox won, as they would ha.

otherwise, thats really all the planning i have. goin to church in me dress whites tomarrow with the fam and me grandparents should be cool. then whatever comes up after that, i play it by ear....



all in all, my week of terror has started off on a good foot......
and theres still 7 days left......

i got a new charger too over the weekend so now my phone works.

weekends come and go.
Friday and Saturday i stayed at a buddies place. twas nice to get off base for once.

Friday night we went cruising around down by the beach, met up with some of his biker friends and chilled with them, later went back to his friends house and...uh...drank "koolaid"....fun fun.
Saturday we were planning to go paintball. but we ended up getting up at noon, and by the time we recovered from our groginess and got all our gear together then realizing the closest field was three hours away, we figured out it would have been closed anyway. so again we cruised around. later watched some movies and whatnot.

then we both had to come back today because of duty. i wasnt happy aboot that.
but the first two days were well spent so i guess it made up for it.

next weekend though is the big one....

so today i got a barracks room. and i must say
freakin sweet.

there are brand spankin new refurbished rooms. mucho nice. fridge. microwave. head in the room. plenty of storage. comfy bed...damn right.
so now i am happier because i have a niffty place to chill, sleep, watch movies, listen to music...shit anything and everything i couldnt do on my ship.

and we have these rooms until our next cruise, which is in the summer of next year.
freakin sweet.

the only thing i dont like is its a long walk from the ship to my room...but everything else makes up for it so its all good.

so yesterday i went to the movies cause i was bored. i bought my ticket and walked into the lobby aboot to go to my movie.
when who do i run into but none other than my bud Haggerton from A school!
i was like, HOLY SHIT. its been awhile since ive seen him, March was the last time we hung out.
then he says another bud of mine, Beach, from boot camp and A school, is here too!
i thought DAMN i picked a good day to come to the movies!
so we met up and talked for a bit. Haggerton is stationed onboard the USS WASP (LHD-1) which is homeported here in Norfolk. Beach is onboard the USS VICKSBURG (CG-69) which is homeported in Mayport, FL. and by chance the Vicksburg is moored right next to my ship and i didnt even know it. freakin weird. and yet another boot camp/A school buddy of mine is on the USS TRENTON (LPD-14) which is moored behind my ship on the other side! talk aboot coinsidence. the Wasp is a couple peirs down, but i can see it from my ship. pretty cool...

anyway after our movie, we walked back to our ships, shootin the shit and whatnot. talked aboot how they were both at A school until the summer, we compared eachothers ships, i told them aboot my surge (they havent been on any long deployments yet), talked aboot home, our ports, so on and so on.
it was really cool to finally see and talk to them. it made my day.
i am now a happier person.

well, as we all know today is the 4th anniversary of 9/11.

its strange to think its been four years since those terrorist attacks. but like it always has been, America chugs on.
i think a lot of people have gotton over the grief, but theres always that bitter pain in the back of everyones memory. although we may have gotton over the pain, we will never forget what happened.

so look to the future, and learn from the past.

actually no. for the past couple days the AC in the berthing has not been functioning. so theres NO air circulation down there. and since its a place where many people sleep, and dirty laundry sits, its hot, it smells; it just sucks overall.
BUT i found a solution. theres no AC in the berthing, but there is AC in my workcenter. very nice AC.
so i just sleep up there. right there on the floor in a corner. bring me pillow up and lie down and its almost like home.

well, AC wise...but its better than trying to catch my Zs in a hot, smelly, dirty ass berthing.

i feel really bad for everyone who lived there. Ive personally been to New Orleans twice; one of my Aunt and Uncle's, and their daughter, live down there. it was really a very nice place, lots of culture and plenty to do; the neighborhoods were nice too. and in the blink of an eye it seems, all hell breaks loose.

the big talk: could the citizens of New Orleans, hell Louisiana, been better prepared for hurricane Katrina?
i think they were as prepared as any state could have been. Katrina was just too powerful, too big, and too unpredictable for anyone.

is the apocolypse upon us? no i think not. even though there were mass casulties and total destruction, New Orleans, and all other cities and towns that were hit will be rebuilt. it will never be the same, but life will go on.

for instance: my cell phone charger. something we all take for granted, but when it goes on strike, all hell and wrath breaks lose....or is that just with me....

i have triumphantly returned to America!
in other words, i am back from Summer Surge 2005!
boy is there a lot to say, so here goes...

the first week or so was "bumpy"...back and forth, up and down, side to side...interesting. then we finally get to our first port: Roda, Spain. we get there two days early, so we sit around in a gater box. boring yes.
anyway, Roda was all right. me and a fellow shipmate got a personal tour of the city. it was indeed a small city. but it was pretty cool. some interesting historical stuff.....actually the only real history there was that Christopher Columbus stayed in the city in a castle and went to church in a nearby cathedral. thats about it. but otherwise the place is pretty cool. my kind of town too; happy hour starts late, and the town is pretty much dead in the daylight and alive at nighttime, when everything (like the bars...) are open. fun fun.

so then we were suppossed to go to Naples, Italy. yeah that never happened. instead we went back to Roda. i wasnt too happy about that. on top of that, i was doing physical Navy work: chipping and painting. in 90d weather. it sucked. while on our transit back to Roda, we were accompanied by a Moroccan Navy ship, an Italian Navy ship, a Tunisian Navy ship, and an Austrian Navy ship. we did all kinds of tactical maneuvers, formations, and such. we also did boat operations, helo operations, and tactical signal opertations. twas quite interesting.

after Roda was Cartajena, Spain. me and a fellow shipmate went into town and walked around looking at all there was. very neato port, rich history, magnificent culture, and of course plenty of bars and girls.
something funny: i was intricately looking at our nav chart one day, and theres a cove nearby Cartajena called Punta Jagershmidt. haha i laughed at that one...

Our next stop was Acat, Turkey. we anchored out and brought onboard some Turkish marines, then we were back out to sea again.
when we were out, we came across a small fishing boat with no navigation lights on. we called them up on the radio and no response. so we had our boarding team board the boat to find out what the deal was. sure enough there was no one onboard. they did find three suspicious looking boxes wrapped in blue cloth. later it was identified as nothing dangerous. so the team confiscated some navigation charts and came back to the ship. it was tense the whole time, but was cool. so the rest of the time we did gater box operations and finally pulled into Souda Bay, Crete (an island of Greece), moored, and did a stores onload and filled up on gas. the catch was there was no liberty, so everyone was stuck onboard. we never got all our food by the time we had to pull out; the milk truck and egg truck never showed up, so the CS's were forced to put rations on milk and eggs. mind you this is for the entire time we are in the Black Sea. so that sucked.

after Bulgaria was Constanta, Romania. i didnt go out in this port, i slept the three days we were there. but from other people that went out, i heard it wasnt that great anyway.

then came Poti, Georgia. this was by far the poorest port we went to. Georgia had recenlty gained their independence from Russia, so they were still developing their country. not to say there wasnt absolulty nothing to do. they had plenty of bars. thats about it though. but it was still cool, me and two other shipmates walked around...crazy place, the cows and pigs and chickens roam free, their streets have potholes the size of a foxs den, and speed limits mean nothing. but it was a unique experience.

so next and last was Valletta, Malta. wow. by far the best port. bars and clubs everywhere, girls galore, and freakin assome architecture. i got my drink on in this port...man oh man was that fun. i also did a comrail event in which me and a couple other people and the ships chaplain helped fill the cracks in a brick wall for a housing complex. it was fun, and i got to see the city more.
after that it was homeward bound. it felt like forever, although the seas werent as rough this time. we stopped in Morrhead City, NC to pick up our tigers (family members of the crew who come along for a day anboard the ship the day before we pull in), and since my duty section had duty the next day, we were allowed to leave then and spend the day back in Norfolk. that was very nice, being home before the rest of everyone else.


so all in all i enjoyed my first real deployment. now we have a leave period, and soon i will be going home to friends and family. finally. until then, its sitting around and typing on my blog....

...and now im hungry so im done.

oh, i saw Star Wars: Eposide 3 last night.

the actoin and light saber fights are badass.
so are the war scenes the rock.
the camera angles are pretty sick too.
the explosions, the violence, the futuristicness...hell yes.

and the acting is actually very good this time. Anikin (Darth Vader) actually doesnt act like hes a little 5 year old in this movie.
all in all its a MUST SEE movie.

well my whole day yesterday was filled with fun.

it was spent doing "force protection" junk for Summer Surge 2005!
it has to do with all these drills of terrorist-like senerios, and how we would respond "efficently" to them.

personnaly, if i saw a terrorist i would shot him at the first chance i get, no questions asked. but i guess higher officals beg to differ, and of course, make it more complicated then it really needs to be.

back from Florida.
finally.
it was pretty cool i guess. speaking i dont like the state to begin with, but ill admit i had some fair share of fun.

the people there are very friendly. very. friendly. and the girls are- well, very. friendly.
i visited the strip a couple times that was cool. many many bars and clubs. visited the beach as well. nifty. attended a couple parties for all the sailors. helped out with a Habitat For Humanity project building houses. that was fun as hell. and did a ton of walking thats for sure.
but i had fun.
so now its rest-time until Monday when we go back out for a week of more training.

then its "Surge 2005" time at the end of the month.
wow i cant wait. i need a cheeseburger...

SO. today. yep. so much has happened today.

first its the 10th anniversery of the Oklahoma City bombing thing.
damn. ten years already...."celebrating" the death of some 168 people that died because some bastard who obviously hated the country of America in which he lived in executed an explosion which blew up and crippled one side of the government building. personally, im glad he got fried. its fuckheads like him that dont appreciate the amount of freedoms and liberties we as U.S.A. citizens recieve. its fuckheads like him that screw up society. its fuckheads like him that get to feel their own wrath.

on a brighter side, a new pope was elected today. Pope Benedict XVI. From good old Germany. hes 78....may god give him a long life....and may he scrub away ALL the perverted-little-boy-fondling preists. thats the last thing we need to hear after the reports on the status of the war:

today i actually did some hands-on, physical Navy work.
we had an UNREP (Underway Replenishment) and i was one of the line handlers.
thats where i heave (pull-in) and slack (let loose) the lines (rope) for the fuel hose.
it was prety cool, seeing a supply ship so close to our ship. while both of use are moving across the ocean. the waters between the ships gets VERY rough.
its an assome thing to witness.
the fuel hose swingging back and forth between the ships, the waves, the water spalshing across the deck. my freezing hands and wet coveralls...
yes; it was rainy and cold and windy as hell.
kickin' fun time.

so that was my first hardcore operation ive seen while aboard this ship.
and i enjoyed it.

and back out to sea on Tuesday. more operation stuff for qualifications.

the good part is that tomarrow our captain gave us the day off.

the only reason he did was because on Wednesday someone tryed to commit suicide in the engine compartment. he couldn't take it. being out to sea so many times just broke him down.
so el capiton felt we all should get an extra day off to relax and calm down before going out again.

good choice. i was starting to grow tense my self...

still pissed off we're in the middle of the ocean, about 30 miles from land, doing nothing. wow. what else is new.

all right.
im back. for now. got back this morning. and im here for today and until tomarrow afternoon when we head beck out again. for more operation stuff.
but my first week out at sea was pretty damn wicked. i got sick the first day, only because we hit a strom, and the waters were rough as hell. and being the smaller ship she is; well, damn that thing rocks! it really stirs your stomach. but yeah after some sleep i was fine from then on out.
so engineering did their testing and stuff, and we (the operations department) practiced our radar and plotting stuff, and all was good. i had fun. the hours of work though kind of sucked; 1200 - 1700, then 0000 - 0700 (or 12pm-5pm, and 12am-7am). but just like the rocking i got used to it. the crew i work with is pretty cool. they bullshit most of the time, so work flys by.
so we go out again tomarrow and are back again Friday. then sometime next week we go down to Florida. good times there are awaiting my arrival.
all in all my first of many deployments was a success.

fine whatever. i still want to go.
after that, we come back for a little bit then its off to Fort Lauderdale, FL for...well, for the hell of it! cant wait for that...

my first deployment starts Tuesday. we're going out to do some testing, then coming back to port; all in all it should take about a week.

im really liking my ship. the crew is assome, and so far things are going pretty good. ive been walking around to get used to moving about the ship.

sweet. my ship came in last night.
i reported onboard this afternoon.

it rocks your socks. the berthing is small. and the racks are tiny a hell! not much storage either; just the room in your rack (which flips up) and a tiny ass locker. but i managed to smash everything and get it all to fit somewhere. but from what little i saw of the ship its assome.
tomarrow they will give me a tour. cant wait.

i think itll be some experience.

okay, so i get here last night, and my buddy that came and picked me up and i are cruising by the piers to find my ship. well we drive past all the piers; twice, and couldnt find the USS Nashville. we're like Wiskey Tango Foxtrot.
So we stop and ask one of the gaurds for some direction, and he says he doesnt know. but he gets on his phone and calls some poeple, and when he returns he says:
well it seems the Nashville is already out to sea.
me: Wiskey Tango Foxtrot.

so we go to the barracks office, and tell the dude im reporting to the Nashville and its not in homeport. he says okay, and i fill out some paperwork and sign shit. he gives me a room key and says to go to building number L-KK.

so my bud and i are driving around for almost a half-hour looking for L-KK. its not anywhere. Wiskey Tango Foxtrot.
we stop at another office and ask the person there. they dont know where it is, but call someone instead. that someone responds with the building name; Constellation Hall; and tells us its behind the office we were just at.
so we drive to it and sure enough the building number we were givin and the number on the building itself dont even match!

so at any rate i check into my room and unpack and go to bed. then i woke up this morning, went to a brief and was told ill be here on land until my ship returns, which might not be for who knows how long, took a urinalisis, and now im here at a computer typing seeing this is long as hell and feeling very hungry.

i leave today. TODAY. ive been waiting and finally its here!
i had a semi-good time here at "A" school. it was easy to get used to, and now its time to move on.
in a way, NOW the real work starts. cant wait.
in just a few hours all my Navy knowledge will be put to the test. i just hope i can accomplish and carry out whatever i am told to do. as long as you do the work like you are told, five years in the Navy will fly. thats what i hope for. do what i am trained to do, and have fun when let loose to do so; that is what is driving me. hopfully itll be a good experience, and i can leave happier when my time is up.
i realize there will be many days im going to hate with a passion, but thats how it has always been. there really isnt any kind of hardship i havent yet endured, so i hope i am ready for more. the Navy has taught me alot in these past five months, so i think i can take it.
if shit does get so bad to deal with, i just think to myself, there is someone out there who is right now having it worse than me, and he or she is still going along. so deal with it. it works.

well, (again) im not sure how long or if at all i will be able to post here, but either way, if you are reading this (obviously you would be) enjoy your day; i will try to make the best out of mine, and until next time:

my best friend PFC Schroeder from the Army returned to his base in New York yesterday. he was out in Florida training in the feild. 50-cal mountee is what he's doing. he leaves for Iraq sometime in the near future.
so he called me at 2200 last night and we talked for a little bit. said it was hot in Florida, and then he comes back to New York and his car is buried under snow.
i laughed.
said there arent many hot chicks down there.
i laughed.
said he was bored way to often while there.
i laughed.
then he said he was going to kick my ass if i didnt stop laughing.
i paused. then i laughed.
then my phone ran out of juice and died.
i laughed and cursed at the phone.

okay, so i REALLY leave 16 March 2005. thats my TRANSFER date.
i have to REPORT to my ship no later than 25 March 2005.
which means i can take about a week-and-a-half of leave to go home if i so desire.
nice huh?

theres a catch. i have to have that amount of days in the books in order to take leave.
but i spent TWELVE days of it after boot camp. i had only earned FIVE days after boot camp, so i went "into the hole". which means i was -7 days when i arrived here. and i have to earn that ALL back. and by the end of this month, i will only have HALF-A-DAY of "positive" leave on the books.

so that means im spending my time in Virginia. oh boy.
